"I can't do that..."

Hi Reader,

I’m chasing my tail today! It’s been a busy week, and I didn’t get my Friday email ready. My perfectionist brain says, “You missed the boat, just forget it.”

But here’s the thing—I’ve noticed this pattern. If I can’t do it perfectly, I tend to do nothing at all. Maybe you’ve felt the same. If you eat one biscuit, it’s easy to eat three. If you can’t clean the whole house, you skip it. Or, if you’re too tired to play Anna and Elsa for the twentieth time, you avoid it.

So, I’m challenging myself to shift this thinking. Instead of “I can’t,” I’m trying “I can’t do it this way, BUT I can still do something.”

I can’t write a long email today, but I can send a short one.
I can’t clean the whole house, but I can vacuum quickly and do a load of laundry.

This shift isn’t just for me—it’s a powerful lesson for our kids. When we’re short-tempered or overwhelmed, they may feel like they’re too much.

Next time, try shifting the focus to your body.

“My body is struggling today, BUT I’ll take 10 minutes to reset.”
“My body doesn’t have the energy for Anna and Elsa, BUT I can do some colouring.”

What small shifts can you make this weekend? 💭 Let me know!

Love,

Fiona
